DRIFT/LEVEE REPAIR/FLOOD FIGHTING/STATION MARKERS

After a high water event, the Mississippi Levee Board removes the drift that has floated against and onto the levee structure. The debris is piled and burned. Miscellaneous erosion repairs are constantly being repaired by the Levee Board through out the year including man made damages. Station Markers are constantly being repaired, straightened, painted and numbered to ensure ability to properly locate problem areas in a flood fight/inspection situation. In the event that a flood from the Mississippi River occurs, Levee Board personnel are on a constant state of alert and inspection of the levee system. Routinely, sand boils are sand bagged by Levee Board personnel.
